Let’s Talk About the New Mercedes-Benz E-Class

May 17th, 2021 by

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a classic line of executive cars that have been produced since 1953. The “E” stood for “Einspritzmotor”, the German word for “fuel injection engine”. With such a strong, solid history, you can see why the E-Class has always been synonymous with luxury.

This classic car has taken on a new look. The front end comes standard with LED headlamps and a redesigned grille with chrome pins. The AMG body cladding offers a sporty, yet elegant first impression.

The tail lamps are revamped to show off a new geometric design. Greater customization comes from the expanded selection of wheels.

Inside you’ll be treated to 64-colour ambient lighting and a new generation multifunction steering wheel with capacitive touch control buttons and galvanized shift paddles. A 12.3 inch digital instrumented cluster and touchscreen multimedia display are equally impressive.

You will experience a powerful but smooth ride in the E-Class, no matter the series. The E350 4Matic features a 2.0L inline 4-turbo engine, while the E-450 4Matic boasts 3.0L Inline-6 turbo engine with EQ Boost. Up to 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft torque. If you find a safe track to take it to, its top speed is 210 km/h.

We don’t expect you to be driving around Calgary at 210 km/h, in fact there’s an electronic limiter in place. But whether you are cruising the highway or the suburbs, you and your family will feel safe thanks to the Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Attention Assist, which all come standard. You’ll likely appreciate the other intelligent drive features as well such as Active Distance Assist, Active Steering Assist, and Active Parking Assist.

The back seat takes safety one step further with a BabySmart Child Seat Sensor as well as rear child safety locks. The Airbag Occupancy Sensors ensure all passengers are safe along with the dual stage driver and passenger seat-mounted side airbag, dual stage driver and passenger front air bags, and curtain first and second row airbags.

The use of run-flat tires means you don’t have to carry a spare or the jack and tools required to change it. Self-supporting tires have sidewalls that are heavily reinforced, so if pressure is low, or the tire is punctured and all the pressure is gone, you can still drive it for about 150 km. That means no pulling over on a busy highway or trying to change a tire in the rain.

The E-Class by Mercedes-Benz comes standard with an entertainment system you’ll love showing off. With voice activation, radio data system, weatherband, external memory control, and even 10 Gb of internal memory. An amplifier with eight speakers, Bluetooth and streaming capabilities. And to ensure it stays intact, the system has an audio theft deterrent.

Taking luxury one step further the E-Class offers premium options. Once you become acquainted with the back-up camera, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Keyless entry and rain sensing wipers are wonderful technology that make every trip a bit better.

The E-350 and E-450 are both rated as one of the best cars for 2021 by Car & Driver and Edmunds.
