The sport-luxury sedan for all seasons and reasons
Even those who have owned Mercedes-Benz C-Class models in the past are likely to be amazed at what the 2016 C-Class offers.
It has become a full family of vehicles, including sedans, coupes and soon a convertible. Within the C-Class Sedan range alone, you’ll find a staggering array of choices, a model for every need and lifestyle.
The 2016 C-Class starts at an MSRP of $43,800 for the C 300 4MATIC sedan, and also available are the C 450 AMG 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG C 63, and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S.
For the second year in a row, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) named the C-Class a “Best Buy” in the luxury category. KBB takes into account numerous factors in bestowing that award, including five-year ownerships costs, consumer reviews and more. All C-Class sedans share the design, safety, performance and comfort fundamentals that convinced KBB to call it a “Luxury Best Buy.”
In fact, Mercedes infused the C-Class with a good deal of the technology and comfort that makes its top-of-line S-Class the leader in the large premium segment.
The C-Class sedan rides on a 2,840 mm wheelbase, an essential element for a smooth ride quality, and also for rear-seat legroom. The ride gets even smoother thanks to available AIRMATIC® air suspension, a technology borrowed from the S-Class. The C-Class is the only car in its segment to offer this feature. Using the DYNAMIC SELECT switch, you can tailor the car’s responses and driving feel by choosing from four driving modes: Comfort, ECO, Sport and Sport+.
As standard, all 2016 C-Class models wear the Mercedes-Benz sport grille design, with the big central star and horizontal slats. The Luxury Package gives a more elegant look with the traditional Mercedes sedan grille and star on the hood. It’s a unique choice in the segment.
The 2016 C-Class line begins with the C300 models, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. You’ll love the silken smoothness of this engine as much as you’ll love the kick from all that torque. Consider a bonus the amazing estimated 7.8-litres per 100 kilometres highway fuel economy. The seven-speed automatic transmission plays a major role in those qualities. With the standard 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive, you can expect excellent all-weather traction and sporty handling.
The new AMG® Sport models stand between the standard Mercedes models with the optional Sport Package and the full-intensity, track-capable Mercedes-AMG® versions. For the C 450 AMG 4MATIC®, the treatment equips this exciting sport sedan with an AMG-enhanced 362 horsepower, 3.0-litre biturbo V6 that unleashes 384 lb-ft of torque. It’s matched to a fast-response seven-speed automatic transmission and AMG® Performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive. The chassis comes equipped with larger brakes, AMG®-developed three-stage adaptive suspension and AMG®-tuned steering. An exclusive sport exhaust system gives the biturbo V6 a mean growl, while AMG® styling grabs the eyes.
Could you ever believe that a high-performance sport machine that can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds could also achieve an estimated 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway? That’s Mercedes-Benz performance engineering at its best. There are also two other AMG® models for even more performance; the 469 horsepower AMG® C 63 and 503 horsepower AMG® C 63 S Sedan.
Given the kinship with the new-generation S-Class, it’s no surprise that the 2016 C-Class comes equipped with the brand’s technologies that are helping pave the way to autonomous driving. Today, such standard and optional features such as COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, ATTENTION ASSIST®, PRE-SAFE® PLUS, Active Lane Keeping and DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist help alert and protect against collisions and other hazards, even by automatically braking the car.
